Picture in the making (one method) - Stage 1
After a light pencil sketch, I aim to protect the brightest of colours (and whites) - in this case because the background of dark trees would make it difficult to paint around the “negative shapes”. I paint bright colours first, ensure the paint is absolutely dry and then I mask those areas: i.e. masking fluid on top of colour.
